MARGARET “PEGGY” FLORENCE NYSTEDT COCOA BEACH Margaret passed away on June 20th, 2014. She was 90 years old. She was born in Brooklyn, New York to Emma and John Connelly on November 8, 1923. After several years of working in NYC, she and her husband, Alf Nystedt (deceased) and her children moved to Port Jefferson, Long Island, NY. She was the first secretary hired by the Port Jefferson Station-Terryville School District and grew in position as the district grew and changed its’ name to Comsewogue School District. After 30 years of service, she retired as Assistant to the District Superintendent. She moved to Cocoa Beach and lived her dream in her home overlooking the Banana River. Peggy was active in her retirement years doing volunteer work at Health First Rehabilitation Center, doing church work at Riverside Presbyterian Church and was the Secretary for the Rock Pointe Condominium Association for many years. Peggy was an avid reader and did the crossword puzzle over coffee every morning. She loved to do needlepoint, knitting and crocheting. She also loved to color with her granddaughter, Stephanie. Peggy is predeceased by her husband, Alf; brother George Connelly; sister-in-law Joyce; niece Ellen Connelly and grandson, Scott Nystedt. Hi Peg, I think I signed this when I first saw your mom's obituary in Newsday. Perhaps I did it private, I am not sure. I have such wonderful memories of your mom. She was a special person, and always made me feel so welcome. I know you all will miss her. I am sorry.

I am so saddened to hear of Peggy's passing. As a former coworker at District Office I spent a great deal of time with Peggy and was an admirer, and I hope, a friend. Peggy was a lovely person of great character and will be sorely missed. To her family: I hope it brings peace to know how many people are mourning her loss along with you.
