Margaret Nystedt
November 8th, 1923 - June 20th, 2014
MARGARET “PEGGY” FLORENCE NYSTEDT COCOA BEACH Margaret passed away on June 20th, 2014. She was 90 years old. She was born in Brooklyn, New York to Emma and John Connelly on November 8, 1923. After several years of working in NYC, she and her husband, Alf Nystedt (deceased) and her children moved to Port Jefferson, Long Island, NY. She was the first secretary hired by the Port Jefferson Station-Terryville School District and grew in position as the district grew and changed its’ name to Comsewogue School District. After 30 years of service, she retired as Assistant to the District Superintendent. She moved to Cocoa Beach and lived her dream in her home overlooking the Banana River. Peggy was active in her retirement years doing volunteer work at Health First Rehabilitation Center, doing church work at Riverside Presbyterian Church and was the Secretary for the Rock Pointe Condominium Association for many years. Peggy was an avid reader and did the crossword puzzle over coffee every morning. She loved to do needlepoint, knitting and crocheting. She also loved to color with her granddaughter, Stephanie. Peggy is predeceased by her husband, Alf; brother George Connelly; sister-in-law Joyce; niece Ellen Connelly and grandson, Scott Nystedt. She leaves behind her son Clifford Nystedt and his wife Kathleen; daughter Peggy Hough-Fjeldheim and her husband Roy Fjeldheim; grandchildren, Christine Mirante and her husband Steve, Stephanie Nystedt, Coco Fjeldheim and Cara Fjeldheim; 3 great-grandchildren, Dennis and Chiara Mirante and Scott Nystedt II; and her niece Pamela Connelly. No local service is planned. Peggy will be buried in Calverton National Cemetery with her husband, Alf. You may sign her guestbook at beckman-williamson.com
