Margaret Elaine Sokolsky
October 3rd, 1928 - November 12th, 2023
Margaret Elaine O'Keefe Sokolsky passed away on November 12th, 2023 at the age of 95. She was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret McDonald O'Keefe and she grew up in Washington, DC where her father Thomas O'Keefe was a Lieutenant in the US Navy. Her mother moved the family to Harrison, NY. Margaret was a graduate of Harrison High School and Berkeley School of Business in White Plains, NY. She then worked as a Secretary for the Ladies Home Journal from 1947 to 1950 in New York City. In 1950, she returned to Washington, DC to take on a position at the Central Intelligence Agency. Margaret then met her husband, William Mark Lamb, and they moved to New Rochelle, NY where they started their family. They were active in the Holy Name of Jesus Church in New Rochelle, NY. In 1972, Margaret moved to Hamilton, NJ where she married Harold Sokolsky, an Administrator for the Boy Scouts of America. Harold's professional position brought them to Irving, TX and based on Harold responsibilities, they traveled across the world meeting dignitaries from across the globe. She along with Harold enjoyed attending the operas and developed relationships with many opera professionals. After Harold retired from the Boy Scouts of America in 2006, they then moved back to the West Coast of Florida to be near family. Harold passed away in 2008. In Saint Petersburg, FL, Margaret became active with the Gulfport Women’s Club, The Women’s Service League of Saint Petersburg, St. Anthony’s Hospital Auxiliary, and the Florida Orchestra. She is survived by her children: Elaine Lamb Mikurak (Michael), Deborah Lamb Guglielmo (Joseph), Billy Lamb (Karen), and Patricia Lamb Springsteen (Dennis); 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and her brother Thomas O’Keefe from Houston Texas and several nieces and nephews. A private burial will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
