Margaret "Peggy" Stanwood

March 23rd, 1931 - February 25th, 2013

Margaret “Peggy” M. Stanwood passed away suddenly on February 25, 2013. She was born in Medford, Oregon on March 23, 1931 to Norman B. and Mabel (Roe) Wood. She had one older brother Norman B. Jr. Her first 11 years were spent in Crater Lake in the summers where her dad helped build the rim road and Payette, Idaho in the winters with their grandparents. Then the family traveled to Costa Rica, Panama and Peru where Norman Sr. continued to build highways for the United States. She graduated from high school in Falls Church, Virginia. At that time her dad was working in Washington D.C for the Bureau of Public Roads. In the fall of 1951 she and a cousin had a chance to go to Boise Jr. College. This was where she met the love of her life Keith Stanwood. Peggy and Keith were married on December 27, 1952 at St. Mary’s in Boise, Idaho. Their first son was born Keith Richard in 1953, second son William Clyde in 1956 and their daughter Margaret Lynn in 1960. They lived for several years in Caldwell where Keith finished school at the College of Idaho and became a golf professional. His job took the family to Henderson, Nevada and Phoenix, Arizona then Ontario, Oregon. Finally in 1969 they returned to Caldwell. Keith and Peggy ran Purple Sage golf course from 1969 until Keith passed away in 1986. Peggy moved to Eagle, Idaho in 1996 to be closer to her kids, where she lived until her passing. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents Norman and Mabel Wood, her husband Keith, Her brother Norman Jr. and his wife Doris. She leaves behind her son Richard (Janis) Stanwood, son Bill (Maryann) Stanwood, and daughter Peggy Lynn (Doug) Hicks. Her grandchildren, Adam Stanwood, Tiffany Lopez, Courtney (Shane) Law, Jamie Hicks, Ryan Hicks, Sean Stanwood, Shelby Stanwood and great grandson Deikan. Many loving nieces and nephews along with several cousins. She will be greatly missed by all of us. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Catholic Charities of Idaho. Bill Grant

My heartfelt condolences to you all. I too have many great memories of our childhood days of marathon poker games and golf course shenanigans. I'll always remember Peggy's rousing call of "William Clyde!" to bring Bill and I back from the brink of whatever chaos we were up to at the time. Her wonderful laughter and smile made me feel at home.
