Margaret Hass Townsend, 97 of Charlotte, passed away on September 24, 2021. Margaret was born in Hickory, NC on October 29, 1923 to the late Eugene and Rosa McCree Hass. Margaret retired from Duke Energy after working there for 27 years. She enjoyed a wide circle of friends, loved dancing, traveling, playing Bridge and loved to entertain. Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dallas Townsend in 2002, her grandson-in-law Michael Lee and her five sisters and one brother. She is survived by her sons, Dr. Kenneth Townsend and his wife Diann and Dr. David Townsend and his wife Pat; her five grandchildren, Lisa Hilborn and her husband Matt, Christy Sherman, Danielle Lee, Brandon Townsend and his wife Debi and Dustin Townsend and his wife Mekayla and sixteen great grandchildren. A graveside service celebrating Margaret’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, 2pm at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Dr., Charlotte, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Margaret’s memory.
