A Life Tribute Funeral Care - Largo
Margaret Ellen Turner
November 4th, 1927 - November 12th, 2014
Margaret Ellen (Margy) Turner, 87, of St. Petersburg, entered eternal life on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, due to an unexpected illness while she was surrounded by her devoted daughters. She was born on November 04, 1927, in Albany, New York, to Floyd and Marian Chandler. On June 05, 1948, she wed her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) G. Turner, who predeceased her on September 04, 1999, after 51 years of marriage. Margaret worked for Tisdel Associates, a civil engineering firm in Canton, New York, as Chief Draftsman and Head of the Field Crew. After retiring in 1987, Margy and Bill moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, a city that truly became "home." She resided at Brookside Mobile Manor and The Fountains of Boca Ciega Bay. She was an active participant in both communities and treasured the many friends she made. She was a former member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Waddington, New York, where she served on the St. Agnes Altar Guild, and a devoted parishioner of St. Phillips Anglican Church, St. Petersburg. She enjoyed boating, camping, fishing and hunting, along with gardening, painting, sewing and knitting. Margaret will be especially remembered for her positivity and zest for life, her ever-present smile, and her dedication and love for her immediate and extended family. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dean, and is survived by her loving daughters, Pamela Turner, Barbara Turner, Jill Turner Gibson, and her son Drew Gibson, her dear sister-in-law, Margaret Olsen Chandler, nephew and nieces, Mark, Diane, and Debbie, as well as their children and grandchildren. Margy placed her highest value on faith, family, and the circle of life. Taking part in the lives of her extended Olsen family brought her much joy, and learning that her brother's newborn great-grandchild would also be named Dean brought a smile when she was near her own death. A private Memorial service will be held at St. Phillips on a future date, followed by a burial, with her husband, at Bay Pines National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National COPD Foundation (www.copd.org) or the American Heart Association (www.heart.org). Her family would like to extend their thanks to the Fountains of Boca Ciega Bay for enriching Maggie's later years, Father John Poole, who brought comfort to her end of days, and to the staff of The Palms of Pasadena Hospital, especially to the gifted and caring ICU professionals who brought peace to her final hours.
