Margaret Anne Ward
March 16th, 1927 - April 15th, 2024
Margaret A. Ward, aged 97, passed away on April 15, 2024. Born in Norcatur, Kansas, to Carl Hix and Anne Collins. Margaret’s life journey took her from Kansas to Colorado, where she made Colorado Springs her home.
On June 4, 1949, Margaret married Eugene Ward, and together they celebrated 57 years of marriage before Eugene’s death in 2007. Margaret graduated from Kansas State University in 1949.
Known for her kindness, unwavering devotion, and unending sweet tooth, Margaret was actively involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She devoted her time to her family and cheering on her Denver Nuggets. Her skills extended to sewing where she created beautiful clothing, including many wedding dresses.
Surviving her are her daughter, Mary Hauck and spouse Pete; daughter Carla Cummins and spouse Mike; grandchildren, Ariana Hauck and spouse Andrew, Shane Cummins and spouse Amanda; Bonnie Crabtree and spouse Shawn; Ryan Cummins; and great-grandchildren, Everett and Whitley Stuhl; Jack and Isabella Cummins; and Kelly, Duke, and Nolan Crabtree. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Richard Ward; son, Jerome David Ward; and sister, Mary Lee Frewen.
A small memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Fort Logan Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Avenue, Denver, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.StJude.org, an organization close to Margaret’s heart.
