Margaret J. Watson
June 5th, 1919 - July 24th, 2012
Margaret Jergens Watson, a resident of South Windsor, CT, for fifty-five years, passed away in Port Charlotte, FL, on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at the age of 93. Margaret was born in Dayton, Ohio, on June 5, 1919. She met her husband, E. Ellsworth Watson of Connecticut, during WWII when he was serving in the US Army. Following their marriage in 1943 and her husband's return from Europe, Margaret left Ohio in 1946 to make her home in Connecticut. Margaret was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in South Windsor, where she served as Eucharistic Minister and belonged to the Ladies Guild. She was also an excellent seamstress. While most of her sewing was done for her family, she also did work for Diane Smith and Dolores Lawler who ran a designing business in South Windsor years ago. When Smith and Lawler were called upon to design the inaugural ball gown for Nikki O'Neill, wife of then governor William A. O'Neill, they chose Margaret to stitch it together. She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Elmer Ellsworth Watson; sisters Mary Ann Guntle of Eaton, OH; Doloris Stuhr of El Cajon, CA; and Roberta South of Centerville, OH; a brother, Jerome Jergens of Miamisburg, OH; six children: David Watson, Sr., of Sneads Ferry, NC; Peter Watson of Rotonda West, FL; Elaine Schenot of Hopkinton, MA; Carolyn Watson-Peters of Framingham, MA; Richard Watson of South Windsor, CT; and Janet Scheible of Plano, TX; six grandchildren: Angela Lanzieri; David Watson, Jr.; Nicole Watson; Katharine Schenot; Jacquelyn Scheible; and Gregory Schenot; and four great-grandchildren: Brittney Pietro; Samantha Pietro; Kristina Lanzieri; and Anthony Lanzieri. A memorial Mass will be arranged at St. Francis of Assisi church in South Windsor, CT, at the convenience of the family. Margaret's ashes will be interred in Center Cemetery at 993 Main Street in South Windsor. Englewood Community Funeral Home with Private Crematory has been selected to handle arrangements.
