Marguerite T. Dewey, 94, was born in Washington D.C. to Claude W. Beach and Mabel Gordon Ladd. She graduated from Washington & Lee High School in Arlington, Va. where she was a Lt in the school ROTC program. After graduation, she went to work for General Telephone as a switchboard operator. Shortly thereafter, she married her high school sweetheart Leonard Dewey. They resided in Arlington, Va where they raised their family of three children: Barbara Dewey Cherry, Stanley and Michael Dewey. After the birth of her three children, she worked side by side with her husband running what would now be considered a convenience store. It was called Dixie Tea Garden and was located in Fairfax, Va. It consisted of a gas pumps, a general store, a deli, tavern and restaurant. They moved to St. Petersburg in 1959 where they set down their roots. After the passing of her husband, she went back to the work force working part-time at K-Mart and then on to the Pinellas County School System Food Service. After several years with them at Azalea Middle School, she joined forces with E-Systems where she worked with the food service until she retired after hip surgery. Marguerite was a born again christian and worked with the 5 year olds at Northside Baptist Church for several years. She liked working the the children. She was an avid bowler and loved music and dancing. She enjoyed time spent with her family on special ocassions. She enjoyed life and made each day a little brigher with her smiles that showed off her beautiful dimples. God embraced her into his loving arms early Thursday, January 17th, 2013. She was preceeded in death by her husband Leonard of 31 years. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Cherry and her husband, Ronald. Her oldest son, Stanley and his wife, Micki and her youngest son, Michael and his wife Mary. She has 6 grandchildren: Christine Cherry Danielson, Terry Dewey, Tracey Dewey Richason, Brain Dewey, William Miragas and April Miragas Davis. 7 great grandchildren: Tiffany and Chase Danielson, Kaylie, Anna and Leah Richason, Kristopher Davis and David Cone. Her family will miss her earthly presence but will always hold dear their loving memories of times past and the love, care and ethics she brought us up with during her lifetime. God has made a place for her in his heavenly mansion and we know she will continue to look down on us with love, as we will continue to look up to her with love and many happy memories. The family members will hold a private graveside service David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Central Avenue Chapel in St. Petersburg is serving the family. Service Information
