Maria Del Carmen, age 54, wife and mother, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2024. Maria was born on November 11, 1969, in Zacatecas, Mexico, to Armando Ramirez and Eufemia Hernandez.

She had lived in Los Angeles from her childhood years to her teenage years, until she moved to Caldwell, Idaho in 1993. Maria had met the love of her life, Juan Avila, in 1985, while celebrating her quinceañera. Juan and Maria got married in 1989. She had two sons, Juan Carlos Avila and Armando Avila. Together, they spent the last 35 years happily married.

Maria loved traveling to Los Angeles and Mexico to visit family and friends. Her most favorite hobbies were shopping, going to yard sales, hanging out with her best friends, Maria Jasso and Patty Lopez, tending to her many flowers, and watching crime/mystery shows on television. She loved to see her flowers in bloom in the spring and sitting outside to bask in the warm sun during the summer.

Maria is survived by her husband, Juan; sons, Juan Carlos and Armando (Daniela); her mother, Eufemia; sisters, Joanne and Irene (Ricardo); beloved nephew, Little Ricky; along with many aunts, uncles, and other beloved nieces and nephews.

Maria is preceded in death by her father, Armando Ramirez; grandparents: Margarito and Luz Ramirez, and Miguel and Maria Hernandez; uncles, Jesus Ramirez and Enrique Ramirez; along with aunt, Evelia Hernandez.

Maria will be greatly missed, though her memory will never fade away. She will be forever loved.

“Since the first time I laid my eyes on you, I knew you were the one for me. I learned to love you more than my life itself. I will treasure all the good and bad moments we’ve shared together. Thank you for choosing me to join you on your journey through life. I will forever love you, ‘Chaparita.’”

“Through all the good times and bad times, you never stopped loving us. Although you are gone, your memory and love for us will stay in our hearts. I will miss you, Ma!”

  • Juan Carlos Avila

“Even though we can’t see you, we know that you are still with us, Ma, guiding us and watching over us. Your little sayings and the talks we had are always ringing in my head, so I’ll continue to be on my best behavior for you. Love you and miss you, Ma.”
