Maria Rosario Ruperta Belleza

Ruperta was born in Goa Camarines Sur, Philippines on March 27, 1919 and passed away on July 26, 2013. Ruperta was the daughter of Aniceto and Furtunata Belleza. Prior to coming to the United States, she was a teacher in the Philippines. She received her Master's Degree in Education from Indiana University. Ruperta was a lifelong teacher who not only taught her students, but embraced all that came in contact with her. Ruperta didn't hear her given name too often as she was "Lola" to all that had the pleasure to meet her. She shared her love for ministry and served as a Eucharistic minister at Star of the Sea. Ruperta is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Ramon Belleza. She is survived by her son, Teodoro Belleza; daughter in law, Marsha Belleza; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Viewing and Rosary will be held at Star of the Sea Church in Santa Cruz on Thursday, August 1st beginning at 3:00p.m., with the rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 2nd beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Star of the Sea Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Star of the Sea Church, Santa Cruz, CA.
