Maria Bernadette Duran
M. Bernadette, lovingly called †œBe†� or †œBernie†� is the second child of five born to Ben and Irene Duran. She is survived by her parents, her son Jesse, three brothers John, David and Steven, sister Rebecca, sister-in-law Lea, and 4 nephews Jeremy, Max, Ben and Alex, and Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends. Bernadette attended school at Cure d†™Ars, Blessed Sacrament, and Machebeuf. She attended UNC and graduated with a bachelor†™s degree in Special Education. Bernadette had a passion for working with people with disabilities and worked at Atlantis Community Inc., which encourages independence and self-determination for people with disabilities. She then worked for Colorado Acute Hospital as the Business Office Manager and Intake Coordinator. For the last four years, she has worked at the Colorado Department of Labor in the Special Funds Department. Bernadette was a very hard worker and took great pride in doing a good job and she made friends wherever she worked. Bernadette was very involved in extracurricular activities all though her schooling. She was involved in girl scouts, ran track, played basketball and was a cheerleader. At Cure d†™Ars Bernadette was one of the first female altar servers, was a lector at mass, and was involved in the youth group. Bernadette was a very loving daughter, sister, and mother, and her son Jesse was the love of her life. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was very loving and caring sister and was very protective of her younger siblings growing up. Birth: Mar 6, 1962, Denver, Colorado Death: May 5, 2012, Denver, Colorado
