Maria Papazaharious (Ioannides) Innis

Maria Papazaharious (Ioannides) Innis Maria Papazaharious (Ioannides) Innis, 87, of Boise, Idaho passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on August 10, 2018. Maria was born on June 2, 1931 in Perivolion, Greece to Speroes and Vasiliki Papazaharious. She lived through the war and famine in Greece during her early years. She Married Vasilios (Ioannides) Innis September 1953. They were married for over 62 years before Vasilios passed away in 2016. In 1969, Maria immigrated to the United States with her son and daughter and joined her husband who had been working in the United State to pursue the American dream and to provide a better life for her family. They first lived in Weiser, Idaho and then moved permanently to Ontario, Oregon where she and her husband purchased a farm, were they raised sheep and cows. She was a hard worker and was happiest when she was on the farm tending to her sheep, caring for her chickens, and raising vegetables and fruit in her garden. She moved off the farm in January 2017 and moved in with her daughter and her family. She is survived by her daughter Dena Ioannides-Zanks (husband Harry Zanks) of Boise, Idaho and her two grandsons Billy John Innis of Lubbock, Texas and Harry William Zanks of Boise, Idaho. She is preceded in death by her son John Innis, her husband, and two sisters. She is also survived by her brother and sister and nieces and nephews. The last name was changed from Ioannides to Innis when Vasilios got his U.S citizenship. Trisagion Service (viewing) will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Summers Funeral Home, 1205 West Bannock Street, Boise, ID and the Greek Orthodox Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2618 West Bannock Street, Boise, Idaho. Private family burial will follow at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Ontario, Oregon.
