María Mercedes Murillo Garcia, beloved wife, mother of 4 children, and nana of 4 grandchildren, lost her six year battle to Multiple Myeloma cancer, surrounded by her family at her bedside, on May 4, 2023. Mercedes, belovedly known as Meche, was born on September 23, 1950, in El Pino, Guanajuato, Mexico, to María Clara Segura de Murillo and Martín Botello Murillo, the second eldest of 10 children. Meche worked in local agricultural fields for many years. She also worked at Mann’s Packing for over 30 years. Mercedes is preceded in death by her father, Martín Botello Murillo; her siblings, Nicolas and Isabel; and nephew Bernardo Murillo Jr. Mercedes is survived by her mother, María Clara, husband of 50 years, Rodolfo H. Garcia; her 4 children, Esmeralda Garza, Irma Garcia (Rafael Rios), Osbaldo Garcia, and Emmanuel Garcia (Persida); 4 grandchildren, Vanessa, Nathan, Kiara, and Juliette; her numerous four-legged pets, Tiny, Olivia, Paris, and Chiquita; 7 brothers and sisters, Bernardo Murillo, Amalia Llamas (Julio), Sofia Chavolla, Leobardo Murillo (Amparo), Lucie Salazar (Salvador), Ricardo Murillo (Jessica), Enrique Murillo (Carmen); numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. The Garcia family would like to thank Dr. Aziz and the staff at the Cancer Care Center, the staff at the Outpatient Infusion Center, and the staff and Doctors from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th towers at Salinas Valley Health Hospital, and the Doctors and staff at UCSF. A visitation will be Tuesday, May 9th from 1-5pm with a Rosary Prayer Service at 4pm at Healey Mortuary Chapel. Her Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, May 10th at 1pm at St. Mary's Church in Salinas.
