Maria Vasquez Ortega, 90, longtime resident of Salinas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on June 19, 2013 at her home in Salinas. She was born on June 11, 1923 in Rancho "La Jarrilla" Manalisco, Jalisco, Mexico. Maria loved to garden and loved all her pets. She enjoyed the holidays and especially loved cooking for her family. The Family would like to thank the Hospice personnel and especially Dr. Ponzio for their kindness and professional care. Maria is survived by daughters, Mary (John Acosta) Ortega Esther (Ernie) Enriquez Inez Guerra sons, Paul, Pete, Sergio, John Ortega Manuel Lopez 35 grandchildren 28 great-grandchildren She is preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Ortega son, Vincent Ortega daughter, Soledad L. Rodriguez five brothers and sisters Visitation will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 from 1-9pm with a Rosary vigil at 7pm, all at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. A Celebration Mass will take place on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 10am at St. Mary of the Nativity Church 424 Towt St. Salinas, CA 93905. Burial to follow services at the Garden of Memories Cemetery 850 Abbott St. Salinas, CA 93901.
