Maria Luisa Perez

Maria Luisa Perez, 89, gained her wings on September 14, 2024.  Maria was born August 18, 1935 in Poteet, Texas to Alejas and Micaela Perez.  She passed away at Life Care Center. 

Maria was a real hard worker, she worked the fields along side her brother-in-law in Eaton.  She worked at Kelly Furniture, making furniture.  She also worked at Bailey’s and Martin Produce.  But her biggest pride and joy was driving the big school buses for District 6.  I asked her one day “You never have discipline problems with your students?”  She answered “ No, the magic word is conversation.  I talk to them, and they are good.”  She loved her students. 

Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Alejos and Micaela Perez; three brothers, Tomas, Geronimo and Marcelino Perez; five sisters, Juanita Cruz, Julia Gonzalez, Clara Curiel, Felipa Gomez and Dolores Rizo.  Maria was the last sibling left. 

Maria is survived by lots of nephews and nieces.  Also, a lot of great nephews and nieces and a lot of great-great nephews and nieces.  She was very loved.  Maria was a second mother to all of us.  She loved us and we loved her.  She will be dearly missed, but forever in our hearts. 

Her hobbies were sewing, reupholstering cars, reading the bible and praying.  And going to Dairy Queen with Gina. 

I would like to thank everybody at Life Care Center for loving and caring for Maria.  Thanks a lot, we really appreciate you all.  Maria made a lot of friends there, she loved everybody there and everybody loved her.  Thank you, Norma, for always caring and loving her.  Thank you, Mary, for being her special friend.  Special thanks to the Rizo and Gomez families. 

A visitation will be held Monday, September 23, 2024 from 5:00p.m. – 6:00p.m. followed by the Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Adamson Life Celebration Home.  Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Our Lady of Peace.  Interment Evans Cemetery.  Following the graveside service there will be a potluck reception at the Moose Lodge.
