Marie L. Durham

May 12th, 1916 - July 18th, 2012

Marie Louise Durham, 96, of Caldwell, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at a Caldwell center. Marie was born on May 12, 1916, in Caldwell to Emon Ineck and Barbara [Vorba] Ineck. Marie grew up with her brother, Joseph, on her parents’ farms in Canyon County communities of Pleasant Ridge and Riverside. Marie attended a two-room elementary schoolhouse at Pleasant Ridge and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1934. Marie graduated from a Nampa business college, prior to becoming an office employee for the Falk’s Retail Stores in Nampa and Caldwell, from 1937-1947. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi for four years and belonged to civic clubs, Soroptimist and Decade. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas for 66 years, becoming a charter member in 1942, and a member of the Catholic Women’s League. On October 7, 1946, Marie married James “Jim” Durham after he returned from serving in World War II; they enjoyed 42 years of married life. Marie and Jim owned and managed the Caldwell Floral business for 36 years, and attended state and national floral conventions. In retirement years, Marie and Jim spent their winters in Arizona. Marie had a strong Catholic faith in the Lord and was an active serving member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Marie regularly participated in local community events. Marie enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, sewing, crocheting, gardening with flowers, reading, playing cards, entertaining others, and travelling wherever her children lived. Marie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, and she will be deeply missed. Marie is survived by her 5 children and their spouses: Anne and Jim Zarybnisky of Emmett; Michael and Shannon Durham of Phoenix, AZ; Gregory and Pam Durham of Caldwell; Jean and Phil Kracko of Niceville, FL; and, Paul and Dixie Durham of Boise; her 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim and their son Stephen. The family would like to thank the staff at Prestige Assisted Living Center at Autumn Winds and XL Hospice for providing for her care in recent years. A viewing will be held at 6:00 PM and the Rosary recited at 7:00 PM on Monday, July 23, 2012, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 1222 W. Linden, Caldwell, ID 83605. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Caldwell, with Father Arnie Miller as the Celebrant. A graveside service will be held at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. A luncheon will be served at the church. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church or a favorite charity. Flowers may also be sent. Service Information
