Marie passed away peacefully at home in her sleep, with her husband at her side on March 7, 2016, their 30th Anniversary. Marie was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Ida Karoline Hohl and Valentin Albert Hohl, of Bad Homburg, V.D.H., Germany. Her Sister and Brother, Mrs. Eleanor M. Otto, of Port Charlotte, Florida, U.S.A., and Mr. Franz W. Hohl, of Schneeberg, Germany. Also, her beloved; Brother In-Law, Mr. Udo Schlosser, of Schneeberg, Germany. Additionally, she was preceded in death by numerous relatives on her husbands side of the family. Marie is survived by her loving husband of thirty years, SSG, Timothy W. Hutchins, of Lakewood, Washington; her forever loving Daughter, Ms. Rebecca Marie Crowe, of Frankfurt, Germany; her sole remaining Sister, Mrs. Ingeborg Schlosser, of Schneeberg, Germany; her nephew, Andreas Schlosser, of Schneeberg, Germany; her Niece, Mrs. Sandra Emrich and family, also of Schneeberg, Germany. Marie leaves behind a few cousins and many friends in Europe, who will forever miss her dearly. Marie also leaves behind countless relatives through marriage, on Tims side of the family, whom all loved her dearly and who will forever miss her. Marie obtained her Masters Degree in Business Administration and worked in many different business establishments in Germany. One of her most memorable and favorite jobs was working for the Public Relations firm of: David J. Edelman GMBH where she was tasked to set up and establish new offices across Europe. Late in 1983, Marie met Tim for the first time in Frankfurt Germany. For both of them, it truly was, love at first sight, as neither one of them, could keep from looking away from the other. They started dating and then every free minute each of them had off, weekends, holidays ect; were spent together. Tim used to catch the train from Baumholder, every single weekend to Frankfurt, just so he could be with and spend time together, with his beloved Marie. On the 7th of March 1986 in Baumholder, Germany, Tim and Marie were joined together in Holy Matrimony, as Husband and Wife. Tim stated; it was, and always will be, the happiest day of his life. Maries loving Daughter, Ms. Rebecca M. Crowe, served as her Mothers Maid of Honor, and Tims friend from Switzerland, Mr. Foster Gratz, served as his Best Man. A Reception was held in Schneeberg, Germany, with Maries extended family and countless friends all attending, and warmly welcoming Tim, as a new member of their extended family. In Dec 1986, they received orders from the Dept. of the Army, to relocate to Ft. Lewis, Washington. They soon made the permanent change of station to Ft. Lewis, WA., and found a place to reside in nearby Lakewood, Washington. Marie supported Tim 110 % in his Military Career, while also making a warm and inviting home for the both of them. Additionally, while Tim served as a Soldier at Ft. Lewis., Marie entered the work force in the local economy, taking on several jobs outside her normal field of training, and excelling at all of them. In Dec 1990, Tim received Orders from Dept of the Army to immediately depart for the Persian Gulf to be stationed on the border in South Eastern Turkey for 12 months, serving in Direct Support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. This was an unaccompanied tour in which Marie was left behind in Lakewood Washington for a year. Twelve months later at the end of his tour, Tim was reassigned back to Ft. Lewis, Washington, to soon be retired from the United States Army. After Tims Retirement from the U.S. Army, Tim and Marie debated whether to return to Germany, Maries home Country, or to return to the State of Maine, Tims home State, or to stay in Lakewood, Washington, (a newly Incorporated City) just outside of Ft. Lewis, where they had been currently residing for the previous seven years. After careful deliberation together, and after consulting with family members on both sides of the family, they together decided to stay in the Beautiful City of Lakewood, Washington. While Marie continued on at her current job, Tim worked part-time, and also enrolled full time at Pierce College and then Central Washington University, for a Double Major in Law & Justice and Psychology. Four years later, Tim had obtained his B.A., Degrees in Law & Justice and Psychology and had graduated. Marie suffered many medical challenges throughout her life that she never complained about and rarely ever spoke about. Earlier, in the prime of her life, she was severely injured in an automobile accident. She suffered multiple fractures, including skull fractures and numerous other injuries that would affect her later in life. However, Marie was not one to let anything stop her from enjoying her life; so she recovered as best as she could and got on with her life. In the early 1970s she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She had a great Physician at the University Hospital in Heidelberg, Germany whom asked her to participate in a trial study of a new surgical procedure. That procedure that would later become known as a Lumpectomy was completely new and unheard of at the time. Marie, along with a few other women, agreed to participate in the study. Marie successfully underwent the Lumpectomy, combined with Chemotherapy and numerous Radiation Treatments. She would later suffer from complications, but for the most part it was a successful operation. Years later, Physicians at Madigan Army Medical Center at Ft. Lewis., Washington commented that they had never before met a patient whom had undergone this procedure. Surely, by becoming a participant in the study, Marie helped pave the way for countless women in the future to undergo this newly established procedure and to avoid a total radical mastectomy. During their thirty-three years together, thirty as husband and wife, Marie was totally devoted to her husband Tim, just as Tim was totally devoted to Marie. As she would say many times, they both lived for each other, and loved each other, more than anything else in the world. Tim always considered himself the luckiest man alive to have had such a beautiful woman fall in love with him and to share her life with him. Marie could always light up any room she entered with her bright smile and her sense of happiness and humor. Marie always said: that any friend she made was a friend for life. Thats just the kind of warm hearted person she was. Marie loved meeting and making new friends whenever possible. She always found the best attributes of anyone she knew and never had a bad word to say about anyone. All those who knew Marie would eventually end up sharing her dinner table with her. Anyone who ever tasted her German style of cooking would always comment about it in a very positive way. Most were amazed and always wanted to come back for more, saying that she was one of the best gourmet cooks they ever met, and couldnt wait to try some other great dish that she prepared. Everyone always complimented her, as just being a fabulous cook making some of the best German dishes they ever tasted. Put simply, Marie was just an extraordinary cook to anyone who ever tasted her cooking. Tim always said: that he always felt like a King at the dinner table. Later in life, disabilities took their toll on Marie. After their Retirement from the U.S. Army they purchased a home in the beautiful neighborhood of Oakbrook in Lakewood. Due to her deteriorating health, Marie didnt get out to socialize as much as she would have liked to. Marie turned her attention to being a homemaker and to her crocheting, making countless beautiful items for the home and giving them away to anyone who wanted one. With some size ten crochet threads and a crochet needle, she could make anything. She also redirected more of her time to her husband Tim, and her much loved Daughter Rebecca. Marie will be missed by all who ever knew her. Most will remember her as the wonderful German Cook with the beautiful smile and a sense of humor. She was a friend that everyone could always count on and trust and was always there when you needed her. Those whom knew her best would confide in her and ask for her advice in all subjects pertaining to life. Marie dearly loved her one remaining Sister, Ingeborg, of Schneeberg Germany. She always treasured the times they spoke and visited together. Marie, besides being a devoted wife, and a friend that anyone could count on, was also a very dedicated Mother to her Daughter Rebecca of Frankfurt, Germany. Although separated by oceans, there was not a week that went by in thirty years that they did not speak together on the phone. Rebecca traveled to the U.S. every single year, spending at least a month visiting with her Mother and Tim. Marie often said: no Mother and Daughter were ever closer than her and Becci. Her passing on their 30th Anniversary was devastating to all, especially her husband, Tim, whom sated: that he was blessed, to have had the privilege to be married for three decades, to the most beautiful woman he ever saw. Marie leaves behind an empty space that just cannot be filled. We will think of her every day for the rest of our lives, until we are once again, joined together forever. All who knew her will smile when thinking of her, and will forever miss her dearly.
