Nancy Jean-Baptiste was called home to God on October 8th, 2015. She will be missed by many, especially by Joe Colacino. The two met in 1989 and were a couple who truly loved each other from then onward. Nancy also will be missed by her many relatives and friends, including her brothers and sisters Winnie, Magaly, Dwight, Wilson, Neil, Larry, Martin, and Marie-Ange. Although Nancy and Joe moved from New York to Florida in 2005, she was born in Haiti on December 24th, 1964 and she spent her early years in Monrovia, Liberia West Africa. The family later moved to the United States. She graduated from City College with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, and studied for a time at Northern College in Leeds, England. Then she worked as a teacher both in New York and Florida. About two years ago, Nancy and Joe achieved their goal of opening a child care center, “The Learning Experience”, in Palm Harbor, where Nancy was the Center Director. She was well loved by everyone that she was associated with, including the children she taught and their parents. She graced the cover of “Tampa Bay Woman” magazine in 2014 and she was featured along with Joe, her life-long love, in an article about the school. She was also the Director of Special Projects and in charge of marketing for “Positive Impact” magazine. She ran for Honorary Mayor of Palm Harbor in 2014, and was elected to the Board of Directors of the Palm Harbor Chamber of Commerce. She, along with Joe, was also a member of the Tarpon Springs Chamber of Commerce as well as the North Pinellas Regional Chamber of Commerce. Nancy loved traveling, music and dancing, and spending time at the beach. She had a vibrant personality and a warm smile which touched everyone she met, including the doctors and nurses who treated her. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family is comforted by the fact that her suffering is over and she is reunited with her mother Gloria, her father Wilson, Grandfather George Paul, Grandmother Clarice, Uncles Roosevelt, Alain, Narcisse, and Aunt Ghislain. Thank you for the support of your prayers, friendship, and love. May Nancy rest in peace. A visitation will be held at Loyless Funeral Home on Sunday, October 18th from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church on Monday, October 19th. Words of comfort may be expressed for Marie’s family by clicking “Share a Memory.”
