Marie H. Martone

Marie H. Martone, 93, of Schenectady, New York, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2021 at her home in Schenectady, with her loving son by her side. Marie was born on June 16, 1928 to the late Frank L. and Helen (Mahoney) Faas. Marie attended St. Joseph’s Convent and St. Joseph’s academy in Albany as a child, and graduated from Albany High School in 1946. Marie was employed by New York Telephone Company as an operator from 1946 until 1951. In 1956 she began working for The Knickerbocker News as a Switchboard Operator. When “The Knick” merged with the Albany Times Union, Marie attended Schenectady County Community College. She then continued her career with the Times Union as the Administrative Assistant to the Production Manager, until retiring in 1993. Her loving family includes her sons, Gary M. (Susan) Martone of Florida, and Peter D. Martone of Schenectady, NY; her daughter-in-law, Diane Martone of Amsterdam, NY; her grandchildren, Nichole (Kevin) Adamkiewicz of Wynantskill, NY, Christopher Martone of Texas, and Amanda (Dennis) Jordan of Zephyr Hills, FL; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Joseph Manfred; her brother, Frank Faas of Albany, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews. Marie is preceded in passing by her parents, Frank and Helen; her son, Daniel J. Martone; her brothers, Francis and Joseph Faas; as well as by her sisters, Marcella (Albert) del Prado, Ann (Bill) Whimple, and Emily (Frank) Czernicki. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 11 o'clock in the morning at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany Street, Schenectady, New York 12304 with Fr. Matthew H. Frisoni presiding. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, 48 Cemetery Avenue, Menands, New York 12204 where she will be laid to rest with her parents. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock at the Chapel of Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady, NY 12304. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, care of St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany Street, Schenectady, NY 12304.
