Marie Scanna

Marie Scanna, age 88, of Las Vegas and formerly of New York, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Marie was born May 17, 1923 in Larino Italy to the late Francesco and the late Annita (Malorni) DiPaolo. She moved to the United States at a young age and became a huge Yankee fan. Known as Mare Ma to her family and friends, she was a devoted homemaker in every sense of the word. Mare Ma is survived by her children James R. (Maria) Scanna of Tucson AZ and JoAnn Scanna of Las Vegas; grandchildren Jennifer M. Scanna of NY, Vanessa N (Anthony) Napoli of Las Vegas, Laurence V. Ferguson of Las Vegas, Frank J (Tiffany) Scanna Jr. of Murrieta CA and Michael J Scanna of West Bury NY; and great grandson Nicholas Scanna of Murrieta CA. She is predeceased by her parents Frank and Annita DiPaolo; husband of 41 years, Vincent P. Scanna; siblings Josephine DiPaolo and Anne Freeman and son Frank James Scanna. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 1:00 pm on Monday, July 11 at St Joseph Husband Of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara, Las Vegas, NV. Burial will be in Bunkers Memory Gardens Cemetery, Las Vegas following services. Calling hours will be from 6-9 PM on Sunday, July 10 at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Dr., #104, Las Vegas, NV 89147.
