Marietta Starosciak Potter
October 21st, 1963 - September 7th, 2023
Marietta Starosciak Potter, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend prematurely departed this earth on September 7, 2023 at the age of 59 in Columbia, South Carolina, with family at her side. She succumbed to frontotemporal dementia after a 4-year battle. Marietta's passing is preceded by her parents, Walter and Mary Starosciak, who provided her with a strong foundation of love and guidance. She was also preceded in death by her beloved aunt, Ann Rauseo, who held a special place in her heart. Marietta is survived by her husband of 33 years, Bill Potter, sons, Steven and Brian Potter, brothers and sisters-in-law, Stan Starosciak and Phylis Greenbury, Dan Starosciak and Terri Tolosko, and her chosen sisters, Martha Ferrari, Patricia Carollo, and Sheryl Massaro. Born on October 21, 1963, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Marietta committed herself to the noble role of being a stay-at-home mom. She poured her heart and soul into raising her children, molding them into the remarkable individuals they are today. Her unwavering love and selflessness were the cornerstones of her family's happiness. She was the heart and soul of her family. Marietta will forever be remembered as a woman of grace, compassion and unwavering love. She possessed an old soul, had a heart of gold, and a smile that could light up a room. She will be deeply missed, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. A small family service will be held on September 14, 2023, preceding cremation. Details of the service will be shared privately with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, in honor of Marietta’s memory, and to support research into the family of presently incurable diseases of the brain, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Brain Support Network https://www.brainsupportnetwork.org/donate/ May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.
