Marilyn Ann Armstrong (Mairs), age 70, passed away in her sleep, on Saturday May 28th. Born and raised in St. Petersburg, she graduated from Lakewood High School in 1969 and for years after was always involved in organizing the reunions. Mairs was an avid writer of poems and stories and if you were lucky, she would write a personal tribute for you. She also kept detailed journals of her life, starting from the time she was 15 years old. She was an amazing gardener and could grow beautiful plants from a stick. She inspired those around her to do the same and there was a constant sharing of plants with her family and friends, especially with friends who lived in the same apartment complex. Mairs made an impression on everyone she met and no one was a stranger. Always there to help those who couldn’t help themselves, the elderly and disabled. Though she suffered with various medical issues, she always powered through, defying the doctors, appearing beautiful as ever…with full makeup, styled hair and matching clothes and jewelry. Her beautiful smile and unique spirit will be remembered and missed by all who knew her. Mairs is survived by her sisters Wendy Smith and husband Kevin, Nancy Wright and husband Don, niece Jessica Son and husband Thang, nephews Ryan Armstrong and wife Kate, Garrett Crowcroft, great nieces and nephew Nari and Ellie Son. Megan and Liam Armstrong. Mairs was the one who always wrote about everyone to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and even deaths…she was so right on in her words…so this pales to her standards of detail and wit. She is already SO missed, but forever at peace with Mom, Dad and our brother Alan.
