Mrs. Marilyn Pearo Austin, 82, of the Town of Amsterdam , passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Albany Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Minaville, NY on November 09, 1933 a daughter of the late Louis and Mildred Phillips Pearo. She was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High Shcool. Marilyn was employed for over 25 years at the Hannaford Supermarket in Amsterdam. She also worked for a time at former Mohawk Cleaners and Pakenas Cleaners in Amsterdam. She married Floyd "Skip" Austin on September 25, 1955. They would have been married 61 years. In addition to her loving husband survivors include her twin brother, Melvin "Buck" Pearo of Scotch Bush, NY. Brother-in-laws, Robert Austin of Broadalbin, NY and Dick Shculz of Fultonville, NY. Sister-in-laws, Joan Vickers of Tampa, Florida and Yvonne (Raymond) Heinz of Gloversville, NY. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was pre-deceased by a brother Durwood "Duke" Pearo and his wife Betty and a sister, Irma Schulz. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Albany, NY 12110. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
