Marilyn Doreen Hughes Rossi, 78, of the Malta Manor, passed away Friday evening at the residence after a lengthy illness. Born in Amsterdam on July 26, 1927, the daughter of George and Jean Hewitt Hughes, she was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School class of 1945. She lived in Amsterdam until moving to the Syracuse area in 1964. Her late husband was the owner of the former Bill?s Radiator Works while they lived in Amsterdam. In the Syracuse area, she was employed for a time as a quality control inspector for Syracuse China. Following their retirement, Bill and Doreen enjoyed travel and spending time with family. On Oct. 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to William Rossi who predeceased her on Dec. 22, 1994. Her loving family includes her children, Wendy and her husband Michael Demetre and Alan and his wife Nancy Ross all of Radisson, New York; grandchildren, Jason Demetre, Matthew and Brittany Ross; as well as two sisters in law, Millie Ross and Carol Lee ?Perky? Ross, and several dear nieces and nephews. Her brother, Winston K. Hughes and his wife Margaret also predeceased her. Services are Thursday at 10:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Michael the Archangel Church with Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant. Interment is in St. Michael?s Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her name to PACE Of CNY, in care of the funeral home.
