Mrs. Marilyn J. "Lynn" Perkins Lord, age 58, a former Johnstown, NY resident, died Thursday evening, March 3, 2011, following a motor vehicle - pedestrian accident in Ewing, New Jersey. She and her husband, Robert, were traveling and in the process of moving from Alva, Florida, where they have lived the past twelve years, back to Fulton County to live in Gloversville, NY. Marilyn was born September 1, 1952 in Fort Knox, KY, the daughter of Marilyn Lake Perkins and the late Harry Perkins. She lived in the Panama City, Panama and Las Vegas, Nevada areas as a child. She was a graduate of the Registered Nurse Program at Fulton-Montgomery Community College in Johnstown and later worked in the Maternity Dept. at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville for about ten years. When residing in Alva she was a Nurse Manager at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida for the past fifteen years. Marilyn had agreed to begin work on March 14th at Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany, NY. When Marilyn lived in Johnstown she was very active at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gloversville, where she was President of the Young Women's Group. Her other interests included jewelry making, quilting and especially sewing. Marilyn owned four sewing machines. Survivors include: her husband, Robert E. Lord, settling in Gloversville; three children, Jennifer S. DesJardins Gerald of Gloversville, Rebecca L. Akers Jeffrey of Johnstown and Daniel K. Anderson Heather of Texas; her mother, Marilyn Perkins of Troy; two sisters, Tina Bowman Duane of Delmar and Tammy Perkins of Troy; six grandchildren, Corey Quinn, Casey Quinn, Alexis Akers, Whitney Akers, Madisen Akers and Marissa DesJardins; one niece and one nephew. She was predeceased by a brother, Michael Perkins and a sister, Pamela Perkins. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 9 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, NY, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday. Interment will take place in the spring at Fort Plain Cemetery, Fort Plain, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078.
