Marilyn Jean Meyers
January 22nd, 1938 - September 17th, 2018
Obituary Surrounded by her loving family and friends, Marilyn peacefully passed away on September 17, 2018. She was born January 22, 1938 in McCook, Nebraska to Glenn V. and Nellie Bennett Meyers. She attended elementary and high school in McCook, graduating as valedictorian of her class in 1956. She married her high school sweetheart, Fred Hummer, in 1958. To this union, Scott, Julie and David were born. With a degree from McCook Junior College in Home Economics, she moved to Fort Collins and attended Colorado State University, graduating with a Master's Degree in Foods and Nutrition. Marilyn taught in the Foods and Nutrition Department at CSU for several years where she distinguished herself both as an instructor and a campus outreach leader. She had a fulfilling career as a registered dietitian, taking her to different locations in Colorado and Kansas, but ultimately she returned to Fort Collins which she loved and called home. Her interests included singing with the Sunshine Singers, participating with her PEO sisters in many charitable activities and events, and serving as a Stephen Minister through the First United Methodist Church where she was an active and faithful member. She loved cooking for family and friends, and visiting and traveling with her many friends. Her life often revolved around her children and grand-children who were dearly cherished. Preceding her in death were her parents. Survivors include her children, Scott Hummer of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Julie Hummer-Bellmyer (Carl) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, David Hummer of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Marnie Bellmyer, Zachary and Andrew Hummer; her sister, Beverlee Swanson (Bruce); and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held at The First United Methodist Church in Fort Collins at 11:00 a.m. on September, 28, 2018. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice or P.E.O.
