My Life Story Marilyn G. Mooney passed away at her home on June 26, 2014. Marilyn was born on May 31, 1935 in Pocatello, Idaho, daughter of Thelma and Bob McDonald. She spent her early childhood years growing up on Eagle Island, eventually moving to Boise and graduating from Boise High in 1953. She met Bill Mooney while he was stationed at Mt. Home Air Force Base and they married in 1954 and had four children. In 1982 she married Ron Priest, the true “love of her life” as she always said. Marilyn was a strong, independent, hard-working person, often working more than one job at a time to support her family. In the early ‘60’s, she worked for General Dynamics Corporation, Astronautics Division during the development of the Atlas missile. In 1975 she worked for Sheriff Chuck Palmer, which led to the opportunity to become the first female commissioned officer with the Ada County Sheriff’s Department, attending training at the P.O.S.T. Academy at the age of 40, then being assigned to the Ada County Jail and eventually to the Work Release Center from which she retired in July, 1996. Marilyn was an exceptionally kind and accepting person and touched many lives with her love and understanding. She will be greatly missed by many. Marilyn is survived by sisters Evelyn Robinson and Glaida Hinshaw, daughters Jan Michaelson (Jim), Karen Conitz (Gregg), Jackie Jayo, and stepdaughters Kelli Wahl and Dana Priest, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Ron Priest, brother Edwin, and son Kevin. Our family would like to thank First Choice Hospice for their support and assistance in caring for Marilyn, especially her nurse, Cynthia. We are also extremely grateful to our sister Karen for living with Mom these past months and providing special care on a daily basis. Private family ceremonies will take place at a later date.Marilyn Mooney, 79, of Boise died on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at her home. Arrangements are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.

We Entrusted Marilyn Mooney's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
