Marion E. Czech

Marion E. Czech, 87, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at St. Mary's Hospital. Born on January 8, 1929 in Amsterdam, she was a daughter of the late Victor and Lula Fraser Hugo. A lifelong resident of the area, Marion graduated from the former Wilber H. Lynch High School. Marion worked various jobs as a sales associate and cashier for Woolworth's, Wagenheim's Clothing Store, Bargain City, Carl's Drug Store, The Thrift Store and Mortan's. Her most prized and favorite job was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend; she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. On October 30, 1948 her childhood sweetheart, Paul Czech, became her loving husband. It was a loving union until his passing in 1991. Survivors include her daughters, Deborah DaBiere (Clem), Dawn Garti and Diana Gifford (Michael); sister, Beverly Paige (Peter); sister-in-law, Joyce Hugo; grandchildren, Patrick DaBiere, Gina Gibbs (Todd), Erin Garti and Daniel Gifford; her great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Elizabeth Gibbs, Gabriella DaBiere. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Marion was predeceased by her brothers, Victor Jr. and Ronald Hugo. A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 39 Saint John Street, Amsterdam at 9:15a.m. Calling hours to which family and friends may attend will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park, Amsterdam from 4p.m. until 7p.m. Donations can be made in Marion's memory to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, P.O.
