Mr. Marion S. Dickens, 73, of Ft. Johnson, NY passed away Tuesday October 8, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Kansas City, Missouri on April 11, 1946 a son of the late Ben and Bonnie Hawk Dickens. He was raised in Kansas City and attended local schools there. He went on to attend college. Marion later enlisted in the U.S. Army and was proud to serve his country. He was a hardworking Truck Driver for most of his career. He for a time worked for Graebel Van Lines of Dallas Texas. He also was the owner and operator of Crossroads and FFX Trucking Co. of Fultonville, NY. He last worked for United Van Lines out of Albany, NY. Marion was a member of the Johnstown Moose Lodge and the John J. Wyszomirski Post #701 in Amsterdam. Marion enjoyed being around his extended family. He enjoyed his sip of Scotch, vacations to Maine, boating on the lake and just being with his friends. He came to this area in 1992. He met the love of his life, Mary Ann Kruger whom he spent twenty six plus years with as a trusted companion and loving friend. In addition to his Mary Ann, he is survived by three children. His cherished step-children, David (Lisa) Kruger, Loni (David) Heinze. Beloved grandchildren, Ashley (Josh) Kelly and Courtney Heinze. His dear friends, Eddie Liber and Kevin and Marcia Richards. He also is survived by his “Springtime Daycare” friends and his four legged friends, Scrappy and Marley. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Marion’s life will be held on Sunday October 13, 2019 at 3:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Marion’s memory to Regional Animal Shelter, 117 W. Fulton St., Gloversville, NY 12078.
