Marion Hyland Marion was born on October 11, 1938 in Texas to Carl and Edith Smith. She grew up in Ft. Worth, TX, graduating from North Side High School and later North Texas University. Survivors include husband, Robert; sister, Carol Ann Latimer; nieces, Cynthia Mathews and Deborah Powell and cousin, Dallas Stephens; grandniece, Lydia Roberson and grandnephews, Mitchell and Spencer Powell. Marion began her teaching career in suburban Chicago and then in the Detroit area eventually becoming an elementary school principal. She came to Arizona in 1987 as principal of Agua Caliente School in the Tanque Verde school district. She and her husband moved to Sonoita, Arizona in 1998 where she became active on the Empire Ranch Foundation. She spearheaded the Empire 100 Western Art Show which has become a yearly major regional art exposition. Donations may be sent to the Empire Ranch Foundation, Box 842, Sonoita, AZ 85637. A Celebration of life will be held at the Sonoita Fire Station at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2016. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel
