Marion Thorp Ingram
July 12th, 1954 - June 20th, 2020
Marion Thorp Ingram was born July 12th, 1954 in Neasden, London England the daughter of Ronald James and Gertrude Eccles Thorp. Her family immigrated to the USA in December 1959, arriving in New York after a transatlantic voyage on the Queen Mary. The family settled in Greensboro and Marion attended Proximity School and graduated from Grimsley High. She went on to attend Greensboro College and earned a degree in music education. Music was always part of her life and she was an accomplished violinist playing in her early years with the Greensboro Civic Orchestra. The other constant in her life was her love for animals, especially her cats. She also had the ability to put people at ease and make friends easily and these friends have stayed with her for a long time. She had a whimsical side that allowed her to enjoy life to the fullest. Never having children of her own she enjoyed raising her step sons and taking part in the lives of her nephew and niece. When their families came along she relished in being the “Great Aunt”. Her Librarian career took her to Guilford College, UNC-G and Greensboro Library from which she retired. She is survived by her loving husband Michael, her sister Jacqueline (Charles), her nephew David Patterson (Amber), niece Sarah Patterson Sheppard (Philip) and Taylor, Trudy, Annie, Sadie, Philip Jr and step great nephew Connor who she enjoyed all the major holidays with. These children gave her great joy. Marion is also survived by her father-in-law Lawson Ingram, her brother-in-law Jeff, sister-in-law Sherry and her steps sons Ed (Amber) and Bobby Copeland. After retirement Marion enjoyed crafting, working on jewelry and crochet. She brought the beautiful stories of fairies to many of her friends and children. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do to help someone who needed their spirits lifted. She believed in light and energy for the soul. She was very close to her parents who passed on previously and I am sure she is reunited with them. Rest in peace dear sister we will all miss you and remember you always. No services will be scheduled at this time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Authoracare Collective of Guilford County at: www.authoracare.org in Marion's memory.
