Marissa Valentine, 42, was discovered deceased at her home in Lafayette, Colorado, on May 28, 2020, the result of an unfortunate accident. She was born in the State of Vermont to Pete and Monica Yeamans. She graduated from North Country Union High School, Newport, Vermont, in 1995. In 1999 she earned a degree in English/Journalism from Penn State University. State College, Pennsylvania. Later she earned a Certificate of Massage Therapy in Texas and a master's degree in English from the University of Texas at Tyler Graduate School. Marissa loved to travel to many countries around the world and had lived and worked in many places in the United States and made friends wherever she went. She was a marathon/ half marathon runner and participated in marathons or half marathons all over the United States from Alaska, State of Washington, Colorado, Kansas, Ohio, Oklahoma, Florida, Texas to Washington, D.C. and many places in between plus Bermuda. She enjoyed music in many genres and was a member of a couple amateur theatre groups in Vermont and Florida. She loved art and enjoyed drawing and painting. Besides her parents, now of Kentucky, she is survived by her sisters Jessica (Andrew) Gagnon of Aurora, Colorado; Rebecca (Jacob) Irwin of Cary, North Carolina; Amanda Yeamans of Falmouth, Kentucky; and Sarah West (Peter Schomburg) of Dayton, Ohio; nieces and nephews: Elizabeth, Alex, Thomas and Rose; many aunts, uncles and cousins and her four-legged furry companions: faithful dogs Max and Electra and her three cats: Bruce, Geddy and Sebastian as well as her many, many friends who will miss her laugh, her smile and her kind heart. Those who desire can make contributions in her memory to their local animal shelter, Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Denver, Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Covington (Kentucky) or to the Dailey Memorial Library, 101 Junior High Dr, Derby, VT 05829.
