Marjorie Viginia Erwin
October 17th, 1924 - April 11th, 2012
Marjorie Erwin, 87, of Chico, received her crown of life April 11th, 2012. Born October 17th, 1924 in Pittsburg, PA to Edward and Minnie Kirchner, she was preceded in death by brothers, C.T. and Edward. She attended schools in the Philadelphia area and Chicago, graduating from Hyde Park H.S. in 1942. The former wife of optometrist Alfred Erwin, she worked for the city of Los Angeles from 1949 to 1957, the Covina Police Dept. from 1958 to 1969, and the West Covina Communications Dept. from 1969 to 1985, where upon she retired. She enjoyed traveling up until declining health made it too difficult. She was a devotee of the music of the great composers, having been a member of a large chorale group as well as church choirs. She took joy in cultivating a variety of flowers in her garden, and in caring for the goldfish in her little pond. She is survived by daughter, Anita Erwin of Portland, OR; son, Jay Erwin (Paula) of Oroville; grandsons, Andrew Erwin of Reno, NV, Brett Erwin of Portland, OR, and Matthew Erwin of Henderson, NV; two great-grandsons; eight nephews, and a niece; 12 grandnephews and -nieces; and many good friends new and old. The funeral service will be Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Feather River Hospice or Redeemer Lutheran Church.
