Marjorie Girmsey
June 24th, 1927 - August 12th, 2021
Marjorie Girmsey, age 94, of Warner Robins, Georgia went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 12, 2021. Mrs. Girmsey was born in Canton, Texas to the late George and Corrie Richards. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins, Georgia since 1953 where she was a member of United Methodist Women and a former Sunday School teacher in the Wesley fellowship class. In 1977 she organized "Mothers Morning Out" recognizing the need for a safe place for young mothers to leave their children for a few hours during the week. She served as the director of this program for 13 years. She lived a life dedicated to her family, friends, and church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Mrs. Girmsey was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Girmsey and her seven brothers and one sister. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Dianne Taffs (Tom), Kathy Canady, Mary Davidson (David), as well as her son, John W. Girmsey Jr. (Debi); grandchildren, Jonathan Riggs, Erin Carlson, Jennifer Dailey (Michael), Matt Canady (Brittany Satterfield), Andi Cole (Scott), Dave Davidson, Katie Davidson (Christy Meadows), John W. Girmsey III (Riesel), Kyle Girmsey; 10 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Girmsey was lovingly cared for by her devoted caregivers, Cyndi Brown, Patricia Alford, and Joann Sanchez, as well as the nurses and staff of Encompass Health. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 17th, 2021, at First United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery. The friends can greet the family Tuesday, August 17th, 2021, between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church soup kitchen, food pantry, or cheerful cherubs kindergarten program.
