Mark Chapman

It is with much sadness and profound grief that the family of Mark Chapman announce his sudden passing in San Diego, California on June 2 at the age of 60 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Betty Chapman Lanktree and Cynthia (Paul) Balistocky, sister-in-law SueAnn Elliott, his many nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends. He will also be deeply missed by his good friends at Alpha Square and Action Central. He was predeceased by his loving mother, Denyse Chapman, and siblings Billy, Pierre, Danny, Karen and Joanne. Mark had a lot of soul. He deeply felt emotion and had strong opinions. He had a passion for music and an internal struggle to understand God. He had a wicked sense of humor, however sometimes crass, and could make absolutely anyone laugh. He will long be remembered as the funniest guy around and his flawless impersonations of The Three Stooges, Clint Eastwood, Andrew Dice Clay and Jackie Gleason could not be matched. He was often requested at parties to make people laugh. He was also a talented artist and a music and movie historian. Mark was unique. His tastes were eclectic and fun. Being very fashionable and always the stylish dresser, he loved his pinstriped suits and his beloved leather biker jacket. All outfits were accessorized with one of his many beret caps, jewelry and of course his famous “John Lennon” sunglasses. He had a heart of gold, was extremely generous and loved helping others. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
