Mark Howard Fortson

Mark Howard Fortson, age 62, a native and lifelong resident of Bradenton, Florida, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 14, 2017. Mark is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughter Lauren Fortson; siblings Gary Fortson, Paul Fortson, and Teresa Fortson Cook; Nieces, Rebecca Fortson, Marissa Fortson, Mariah Fortson, and Skyler Cook; Nephew, Austin Cook; Sister-in-law, Debbie Kilpatrick; Brothers-in-law, Terry Kilpatrick and Terrence Cook. He is preceded in death by parents, Lawrence Howard "Bud" Fortson and Ruth Fortson. Mark was a devoted husband and father. He was a graduate of Manatee High School class of 1972. He worked as a contractor for most of his life and built many beautiful homes between Bradenton, Naples, and the St. Augustine areas. Mark was an avid, self-taught chef. He loved history of all kinds, especially local Manatee County and Bradenton area history. He also loved to collect coins and kept an extensive collection. Mark will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. We will always carry his memory in our hearts. A gathering of friends to remember his life will occur at a later time.
