He is also survived by his mother of Keller, TX, his four sisters Linda Martinez of Dallas, TX, Debbie Bruton of Peaster, TX, Donna Miers of Boulder, CO and Cindy Fickle of Keller, TX. At age 18, Mark joined the U.S. Army and served at Fort Hood, Texas, where he drove Bradley Tanks. In 1987, after finishing his service in the Army, Mark moved to Colorado. His home remained in the Denver area from that time. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology / Communication with Distinction Cum Laude from the University of Colorado in 2002. He worked as a machinist for over 35 years and for the last 10 years he worked for Barber-Nichols, Inc. of Arvada as Machinist of Specialty Turbo-Machinery. Mark, along with his family, was an active member of Bear Valley Church in Lakewood, CO. Over the years, he volunteered in different capacities with organizations such as †œSave our Youth† and Barn-a-bus Prison Ministries. He went on repeated Mission Trips to the Czeck Republic in the 1990s. Memories of those experiences, were frequently and fondly recalled by Mark. Mark especially enjoyed outdoor activities and was typically known to be planning some sort of camping or hunting trip. For a number of years he served as Volunteer Ski Patrol at Ski Cooper in Leadville, Colorado. He looked forward to skiing and snowboarding with his family every season. With equal anticipation he followed Dallas Cowboys Football. If you knew Mark, you were bound to have experienced one of his homemade bar-b-q sauces and witnessed him spending endless hours tending a meat filled smoker in his backyard. He loved to share the fruits of his labor with friends and family. Mark avidly kept up on current news, was a strong advocate of the 2nd Amendment and was a member of the NRA. Most remarkably, Mark was passionate about his family, his love for life and his love for God. We will miss him. A memorial service was held for him at Bear Valley Church of Lakewood, CO on November 7th, 2013. There Mark was remembered as a Son, Brother, Husband, Daddy and Friend.
