Mark LaMantia

LaMantia, Mark Anthony, 64, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 9, 1954 in Elmwood Park, IL, the son of Anthony (Tony) and Vera LaMantia. Mark was an entrepreneur who owned a child safety manufacturing company, named, Tots in Mind, Inc., for nearly 30 years. His natural curiosity of life led him become a successful innovator. He was inspired to invent his flagship product to protect his eldest son, Philip, while alone in his crib. His products graced the homes of countless Americans and provided peace of mind to parents and families. Mark was extremely generous throughout his life, in a quiet way, which touched and impacted the lives of those who surrounded him. He will be sorely missed. Mark married the love of his life, Lauren, on March 5, 2011. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Philip (Jamie) LaMantia; son, Anthony (Costas Spirou) LaMantia; stepdaughter, Alexandra (Ryan Careno) Cote; step-son, Samuel Cote; step-daughter, Gabrielle Cote; and his two grandchildren, Chase and Samantha. He is also survived by his beloved mother, Vera LaMantia; sister, Leah (Chance) Savoure-LaMantia; and his much loved father and mother-in-law, V. Richard and Elaine Conforti; also many extended family, friends, and newfound friends within the Hunters Green community. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Anthony (Tony). The LaMantia family would like to extend their immense gratitude to the dedicated staff, nurses, and physicians at the AdventHealth Pepin Heart Institute as well as the CardioThoracic ICU at Tampa General Hospital. A funeral service celebrating Mark’s life will take place on Friday, March 8, at 11am at Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9724 Cross Creek Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33647 with Father David DeJulio officiating.
