Mark Morrissey

Mark Edward Morrissey, age 67, passed away on February 6, 2019. Mark grew up on their family farm in Ames, Iowa before eventually making his way to Aurora, CO where he has resided for the past 40 years. He graduated from Mankato State University followed by the University of Arizona where he completed his Master’s program in Athletic Training. Mark enjoyed a successful career of over thirty years teaching Health and Sports Medicine at Smoky Hill High School while also serving as an Athletic Trainer for various high schools and the Colorado 14’ers semi-professional basketball team. He was a devoted mentor to his students, athletes, and dozens of teachers under his guidance. Outside of the classroom, he loved fishing, camping, biking, gardening, and all things outdoors. Mark was a loving father, brother, and uncle, who cared deeply for his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Charlotte, and his brother, Phil. Mark is survived by his sister, Becky, his brother, Kerry, his two children, Kellen and Matt, and grandson, Jayce. He also leaves behind his former wife and dear friend, Tracy, as well as six nieces and nephews.
