Mark Kevin Simmons

A public celebration of life service for, Mark Kevin Simmons, 53, of Chico, will be held at a later date. Mark passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010 at his residence in Chico. He was born on February 10, 1957 in Charleston, South Carolina to Henry and Marie Simmons. Mark was bass guitarist and lead singer of a local band, “Mutated Funk”. He was also an amateur actor at the Blue Room. He loved to ride his motorcycle and hang out with friends at the Towne Lounge. Mark worked as a residential and commercial painter for over thirty-five years. He always seemed to help people out; “he never met a stranger.” Mark will be missed and is dearly loved by his wife, Andrea Simmons; mother, Marie; daughters, Nortina Simmons and Detravelle Lee; sons, Mark S. and Kevin G. Simmons; stepsons, Austin and Shayne Casteel; sisters, Wanda Colston, Fran Atchison and Peggy Willis; grandsons, Jamal Lee, Derrick Casteel and Kingsley Evans; granddaughter, Megan Lee; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Henry; aunt, Beverly English and uncle, Virgil Ravenel.
