Mark Edward Simpson
January 13th, 1968 - May 9th, 2015
Mark Edward Simpson, 47, passed away unexpectedly (Saturday May 9th, 2015) due to a boating accident. Mark attended Wheaton High School in Maryland but graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School. He met and married the love of his life, Dianne, in 1993. He was a skilled electrician, proudly serving with the I.B.E.W. Local 934 chapter. His fellow workers affectionately called him "Red Bull". Mark had a great passion for fishing, he loved to go every chance he had. He had the gift to make those around him laugh and feel comfortable. His greatest accomplishment was his son, of whom he was very proud. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge and Linda Simpson; father and mother in law, Donald and Myrtle Chapman; sisters in law, Judy Chapman and Marcia Mast; brother in law, Mike Deal and Terry and E.W. Chapman. He is survived by the love of his life of 22 years, Dianne Chapman Simpson; son Logan Simpson of the home; sisters, Tammy Williams and husband Chuck, Mt. Carmel, Tracey Deal, Mt. Carmel; brother, Kenny Simpson and wife Kim, Mt. Airy, Maryland; sisters in law, Peggy Rhoton and husband, Chuck, Gate City, Gayla Ekstrand and husband Einar, Rome, Ohio, Jeannie Lee Chapman, Rome, Ohio and Sandy Chapman, Hartsgrove, Ohio; brothers in law, Eric Chapman and wife Wanda, Weber City, Stevie Chapman and wife Jolie, Chardon, Ohio, Elton Chapman and wife Connie, Rome, Ohio, and John Mast, Middlesburg, Ohio; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 6 till 9pm Wednesday (May 13th, 2015) at Scott County Funeral Home or anytime at the home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1pm Thursday (May 14th, 2015) at Scott County Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Rhoton. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jerry Cowden, Joe Cobb, Mark Wilson, Jeff King, Jeff Tankersly and Mike Tankersly. Honorary pallbearers are Chuck Rhoton, Joshua Yates, Einar Ekstrand, Steve Chapman and Eric Chapman. Special thanks should go to Officer David Crum with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department and to Virginia State Trooper M.S. Brown for going above and beyond the call of duty in assisting the family during such a difficult time. Carter-Trent/ Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Simpson family.
