Mark E. Varidin
March 4th, 1958 - October 19th, 2004
Varidin, Mark E., D.O., F.A.C.O.F.P., 46, of Seminole, died Tuesday October 19, 2004 as the result of an airplane crash near Kirksville, Missouri. He was traveling to Kirksville to attend a meeting of Regional Deans at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine KCOM. He graduated from KCOM in 1984; the University of Florida in 1980; St. Petersburg Junior College in 1977 and Boca Ciega High School in 1976. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, he moved to St. Petersburg in 1970 from Warren, Ohio. Dr. Varidin, a Board Certified family physician and a fellow of family medicine, practiced medicine in St. Petersburg since 1986. He was a member and officer of the Pinellas County and Florida Society of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians; Assistant Regional Dean of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine; a member of the Board of Trustees for the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association; a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians; and the American Osteopathic Association. He was a member of St. Stefanos Greek Orthodox Church in St. Petersburg and St. Jeromes Catholic Church in Seminole. He was a member of the Bayou Country Club of Largo, FL. Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Diane Malzahn Varidin; a son, Alexander E. Varidin; his parents: Joyce S. and Dr. Plato E. Varidin, Director of Medical Education at Northside Hospital; two sisters: Paulette DeLucia and Anne Gardner; his maternal grandmother, Tasia Stephanopoulos; two aunts: Deme Varidin and Jenni Stephanopoulos Cheeks, all of St. Petersburg; an uncle: Rev. Dr. Robert Stephanopoulos, Dean of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in NY, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Anderson-McQueen Funeral & Cremation Centers ? Tyrone Chapel.
