Mark Randall Wood Knoxville, TN- Mark went home to the Lord Tuesday April 22nd after a long and hard fought battle with Cancer, at his home in Knoxville, TN. Mark was born on Oct. 8th 1953 at Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, TN. He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1971 and was also an ETSU graduate. Mark went on to achieve his MBA in Law from Nashville School of Law. He was a member of the Brentwood, TN Police Dept. for many years preceding his transition into Law, where he served as a Defense Attorney in Nashville and Knoxville and eventually serving as Knox County Magistrate. Mark was preceded in death by his father; Walter Wood (1968). Surviving are his mother; Alma Martin and husband, Eddie of Kingsport; his Sister, Martha Wood and companion, Steve Clark of Fall Branch; his Brother, David Wood and wife, Sandra of Kingsport; several nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Thanks to June Cooper of Knoxville, who was a special friend and caretaker of Mark. Calling hours will be held on Saturday (April 26, 2014) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Scott County Funeral Home, 280 Hwy US 23 Weber City, VA 24290 or friends may also call anytime at the residence of his mother, Alma Martin in Kingsport. A celebration of his life will be conducted on Saturday (April 26, 2014) at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A burial will follow the service on Saturday (April 26, 2014) at Holston View Cemetery with Luke Wood, K. C. Bartley, Steve Clark, Ryan Wood, Steve Freeman, Chris Freeman, Phil Brickey, Mike Peters, and Greg Peters serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Winston Peters, Eddie Martin, Roger Peters, Gene Peters, Benny Cassell, and Walter Martin Cassell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, 223 Rosa L. Parks, Suite 301, Nashville, TN 37203. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Wood family.
