Marlene "Cherry" Dee Jenkins

October 24th, 1939 - March 22nd, 2012

Marlene Dee Jenkins died peacefully at home early Thursday morning March 22, 2012. Marlene was born on October 24, 1939 in Plover, Iowa to Andrew and Ruby Cherry, third of six children. The family moved to Boise, Idaho in 1949. In 1958 she married Charles Jenkins; together they had 7 children and remained married until Charles’ death in 2005. Marlene had many jobs throughout the years and was working as a caregiver right up until her death, but no job was more important than “Mother.” Marlene enjoyed traveling, bingo and crafts but her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family and friends. Marlene will be missed, loved and her memory forever cherished by her family and friends. Marlene was preceded in death by her husband Charles Jenkins, both parents, a younger brother Richard and a daughter Dorean. Marlene is survived by her brothers Darrell Cherry and Dennis (Peg) Cherry, sisters Dixie (Elvin) Scrivner, Jora (Jerry) Phettiplace, sister-in-law Bonnie Gray, sons David (Cheryl) Jenkins, Duane Jenkins, Dale Jenkins and Dustin Jenkins, daughters Debra and Dawna Jenkins, grandsons Bryce, Steven, Timothy and Kamron, granddaughters Erin (Shane) Chesnut, Whitney and Angellique Jenkins, and the newest joy of Marlene’s life, great-granddaughters Payton Chesnut, Kylie Jenkins and Aylla Hovland. A memorial service will be at 11:00AM on Saturday, March 31, at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Marlene’s online guestbook is available at www.flahifffuneralchapel.com Service Information

Marlene took care of my 2 girls for several years and they LOVED her. Marlene was like a grandma to them and I have always appreciated that. I admired her ambition to take such good care of others and she was always working and helping others. Please know we are thinking and praying for the family! Our family adored Marlene. She took such good care of my grandkids when they were small and they loved her beyond words. She was always there for whoever needed her help or advice.
