Marlene Ann Lewis

June 5th, 1931 - August 1st, 2024

It is with great sadness and also rejoicing to announce that Marlene Ann Lewis (93) of Loveland Colorado left this earth and moved to Heaven on Thursday, August 1, 2024. The sadness is ours and the rejoicing is because she enters into God’s eternal presence. She joins her parents Edgar and Florence House, her beloved husband Ben Lewis and a host of other friends and family now in the arms of God.

She is survived by her 4 children; Steve (Terry) of Loveland, Mark (Wendy) of Iroquois Ontario, Bobby (Kim) of Athens, Georgia and Lisa Rodgers (David) of Loveland. Marlene was also blessed to have loved and spoiled 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.A celebration of Marlene's life will be held September 7th, 2024 at Good Shepherd Church in Loveland, Colorado 1:00pm. “Cookie” reception to follow in the “Family Room”.Marlene was love incarnate. She loved Jesus and worshipped God. The Holy Spirit worked mightily through her to bring this love and compassion of Christ to the world. She served her church to the best of her abilities and in her later years, served them as a constant prayer intercessor for God’s will to be done in this earthly place. She enjoyed reading scripture and spent much time in God’s word discerning her call in life. Her family was truly blessed to have had many great conversations regarding God and God’s love for the world. We will miss the signature, “Praise the Lord, the Lewis residence” that everyone was greeted with on the phone. That was her way of showing everyone where she stood in her commitment to Jesus. We are forever grateful for her example and guidance that we might be acceptable disciples of Christ just as she was.

Marlene was rarely seen without a smile on her face, and she loved to laugh, even if it was at her own expense. She loved to play games and spend time in the company of her family and friends. It was a way of sharing her love and care for others. Many hours were spent around the kitchen table playing “dice” and she made sure everyone knew how to play the game so she always had someone to beat! Laughter and joy were trademarks of Marlene’s life and she always strived to find the good in every situation. It is a gift she gave that will never be forgotten.

At her core, Marlene, mom, was a teacher. She taught all of us through her example much more often than with her words. She was kind to strangers and took in many a lost soul over the years. She believed in working hard but having fun while you did. She taught us how to respect and provide dignity to everyone; even those who are different than us and sometimes challenging to understand. She taught us to accept the obstacles in life regardless of what they were, looking for the positive in all circumstances. She showed us how to love, not just one another, but all whom we encounter. Marlene was the epitome of the two great commandments; Love God and love neighbor. She taught us to forgive and to have mercy on those we perceive to have offended us. She was a teacher of how to find our way in life so that the world might benefit.

Marlene will be missed by everyone she encountered. She was the personification of a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, friend, grandmother, great-grandmother, and most importantly mother. Her spirit will continue on in the lives she touched and the children she raised. We are all better because we knew her and had the chance to love her. May she be free to serve the one she loved the most, God almighty!

As stated above, a celebration of Marlene’s life will be held September 7th, 2024 at Good Shepherd Church in Loveland, Colorado 1:00pm. “Cookie” reception to follow in the “Family Room”.
