Martha Shirley Clark
November 10th, 1925 - October 16th, 2016
CLARK, Martha Shirley went home to be with the Lord on October 15, 2016. She was born and raised in Belton, South Carolina, but has been a resident of Tampa since 1953. She was the daughter of the late Ross Richard and Isa Shaw Shirley, whose families were residents of Anderson County since the 1700’s. Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Clyde Theron Clark; sister, Betty S. Rhodes; and brother, Ross Richard Shirley. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Kenny Walters of Mandeville, LA; son and daughter-in-law, Cy and Selene Clark of St. Petersburg; precious grandchildren, Stewart Clark Waters, Kyle Ross Walters, Lauren Ann Walters and Katie Woolard; and two great-grandchildren. Martha was an active member of Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, serving as president of the Women of the Church and other offices; a member of the Women’s Golf Association at Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club; Salvation Army Auxiliary; Junior Women’s Club and the (39ers); and Daughters of the American Revolution. The most important things in life to Martha were her family and her Lord. She enjoyed the beauty of all nature and especially flowers, which she loved to share with her friends. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Community Foundation of Tampa Bay for the Martha S. Clark Preschool Fund to benefit Palma Ceia Presbyterian Preschool, 550 North Reo Street, Suite 301 Tampa, FL 33609 or Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church.
