Martha M. Colmar
April 17th, 1924 - December 18th, 2007
Martha M. Colmar 83 of South Pasadena passed away Tuesday December 18, 2007 at her home. Born in Bellevue Pennsylvania, Martha came here in 1950 from Albuquerque New Mexico. She attended college at Pennsylvania State University, and later worked for a brief time for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington D.C. She married Richard C. David at the age of 24, then moved to Albuquerque where they lived and had their first son "Buzz". After a year, they decided to move to Florida, where their second son Alan was born. Martha had varied careers, working for the former Duvall Jewelers in downtown St. Petersburg and later as a bookkeeper at Thomson and McKinnon and Beale and Huff. She also worked for WSUN TV; a family owned bottled water company; and eventually settling into several years as the main accountant for Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Kenneth City. It was there, that Martha met her second husband Alan Colmar, where he served as the administrator. They continued to work together for several years until Alan retired in the early 1990's. Alan passed away in 1996. Martha's final years were spent at the Fountains in South Pasadena where she resided for three years. She made many new friends who loved and cared for her while she was there. In addition to her late husband Alan, Martha was pre-deceased by her parents James G. Bennett and Alice Neely Bennett; siblings Mimie, Eva, Don and Jim. She is survived by her sons Alan David and his wife Charlene of Paola, Kansas and Richard R. "Buzz" David and his wife Amy of Amarillo Texas, and brother Floyd Bennett and his wife Joanne of St. Petersburg. Memorial services will be 3PM Sunday, December 23, 2007 at the David C. Gross Funeral Home Chapel in St. Petersburg with Rev. William Nicolaro officiating. Flowers are welcome, or donations in memory can be made to Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. David C.
