Martha "Malka" Jane Eckstein

Martha Jane Eckstein, age 93, of Las Vegas, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Martha was born July 12, 1919 in St. Louis, MO, to the late Michael and the late Hannah (Fallek) Zarwit. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Eckstein, to whom she was married for 42 years. Martha worked as a dental secretary. She enjoyed knitting and making needlepoints, and loved to bake and cook. She belonged to the botanical garden in Cleveland, made beautiful floral arrangements and was active in True Sisters in Ohio. Martha is survived by one daughter Karen (Ronald) Berke of Las Vegas, NV; two sons Barry (Ann) Eckstein of Vermillion, OH, and Dennis (Beverly) Eckstein of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren Scott Eckstein, Michelle Eckstein, Culler Stuart, Stacey Eckstein, Lindsey Des Rochers, Allan Berke and Brian Berke; and great-grandchildren Alexander Sulivan, Harrison, Malcolm and Kyle. Martha is predeceased by her sister, Thelma Tash. Donations in Martha's honor may be made to the Gathering Place in Cleveland OH and to Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas. Burial will be at Mayfield Road Cemetery in Cleveland. Arrangements for a memorial service are pending.
