Martha J. Grimes, 80, of Homedale, Idaho, passed away October 26, 2011. She was born May 21, 1931 in Bakersfield, California to Earl and Pearl May Fleming. She was the fourth of six children. Martha married the love of her life, Riley M. Grimes in Eloy Arizona, on July 15, 1949. They lived in Arizona until Riley joined the United States Air Force. Moving from state to state as an Air Force wife and Mother, they finally settled down with their four children in Homedale Idaho. Martha was raised in a hard working family, and she was a very hard worker. She worked hard at raising four children, and she worked hard at everything she did in her life. Her passions drove her and they were wife, mother, hairdresser, seamstress, square dancer, writing letters to the editor of the Avalanche, remodeling the house, and especially painting! Martha always said that she was a, “Jack of all trades, Master of none!” She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Riley, her husband of 50 years, Woody Purdom, her favorite brother-in-law, one granddaughter, one grandson, and 2 great-grandsons. She is survived by her sister Mary (Woody) Purdom of Homedale, her four children Vicke (Bob) Huston of Nampa; Eva (Greg) Mathews of Caldwell; Riley (Marianne) M. Grimes Jr. of Homedale; Thomas (Cheryl) Grimes of Nampa; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held from 5:00-7:00PM on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Homedale. Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Marsing Homedale Cemetery. The family suggests that donations be made to your favorite charity. Service Information
