Martha Smith Lemons, 90, passed away July 13, 2018 as she was surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be 11:00AM Wednesday July 18, 2018 at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, officiated by Rev. Tyler Gaulden. Burial will immediately follow the service in Westminster Gardens Cemetery. Martha was born September 21, 1927 in Emmett, West Virginia to the late Margaret Whitaker and James A. Smith. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Sidney H. Lemons, Jr.; great-granddaughters, Jamie and Savannah Lovelace; sisters, Geneva, Ottie, Susan and her twin sister, Mary; brothers, Rexford, Russell, James, Jr., and Renford. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Joni Carter and husband Jerry; son, Jerry Phillips; grandchildren, Jason Carter, Jennifer Lovelace and husband Jason; great-granddaughter, Lillian Lovelace; brother, Tommy Smith and wife Patsy; special niece, Virginia Withrow and special nephew, Rexie Smith; numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly and her special friend Joyce Marshall. Martha loved spending time at the beach. She spent countless hours surf fishing with her husband Sidney. She enjoyed meeting other fishermen and women on the beach and comparing fish stories. She loved her church and church family at Gospel Baptist Church. Martha most loved spending time with and caring for her family. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM Tuesday July 17, 2018 at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home. The family would like to thank her care-givers, Faye, Nancy and Tammy for their dedicated, loving care of Martha. We would also like to say a special thanks to the EMS, Fire Fighters, the doctors and nurses of Cone Hospital and the Hospice and Palliative Care team that took such good care of her.
